Growing Up Minneapolis and Minnetonka

Serious, at times humorous, Ross Fruen weaves a wonderful tapestry of the connected family, lake and city. Blemishes included. The author seasons the book with nasty political tricks, explosions, riots and a gangster or two.

Growing up Minneapolis & Minnetonka is painstakingly researched and story-laden. Untold history abounds. His family has been there since Paul Bunyan was in short pants.

Great-grandfather William Fruen, an Englishman, was a business pioneer in the milling and spring water industry. Great-grandmother Henrietta was a Swedish immigrant and poet whose family settled in Dakota hunting grounds in 1852. Conflict was inevitable.

Lake Minnetonka has been prominent in the Fruen’s lives since 1928 when Grandfather Arthur and Grandmother Reba purchased and developed an iconic Lake Minnetonka property – Big Island’s Crown Point.
